You are being asked to participate in an online survey research study conducted by Pamela Gibson from James Madison University. The purpose of this study is to better understand the experiences of persons with environmental sensitivities (both chemical and electrical) as they grow older.
The online survey will ask you about your experiences with medical care, social support, living quarters, and other quality of life measures. The survey is on Qualtrics, an online survey maker. If you are unable to complete the survey on a computer, you can request a hard copy to be mailed to you to complete and return via US mail. To request a hard copy please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 540-568-6195 and leave a message with you name (clearly stated) and your complete address.
The survey may take from 30 to 60 minutes.
Risks I do not perceive more than minimal risks from your involvement in this study, meaning no more risk than participating in daily life. Risks to participants include having to think about stressors, limits to access and medical care, and sad feelings.” Benefits
Potential benefits from participation in this study include contributing to the growing body of data that may help persons living with Environmental Sensitivities to be better understood.
The results of this research will be presented at a conference and submitted for publication. Data will be presented in the aggregate (summaries) and no identifying information will be attached to any reports. The results of this project will be coded in such a way that the respondents’ identities will not be attached to the final form of this study. All data will be stored in a secure location accessible only to the researcher. Upon completion of the study, all information will be stored in a file on Dr. Gibson’s password protected computer.
Participation & Withdrawal
Your participation is entirely voluntary. You are free to choose not to participate. Should you choose to participate, you can withdraw at any time without consequences of any kind and you may refuse to answer any questions.
